Let’s Discuss the Pros and Cons of Playing Pokemon Go

As the days went by, I saw more friends and people playing it. So, naturally, I had to give it a go to see how good or bad the game is.

It has been just about four days since I started to actually play ¬†this game. The night when the app was released on iOS and Android, I downloaded it and played for just ten minutes. After that, I removed the app and wasn’t going to play it again. Ever again.

This all changed when I saw a friend playing it and having fun with what the game offered. Then as the days went by, I saw more friends and people playing it. So, naturally, I had to give it a go to see how good or bad the game is.

Now I am here to discuss the pros and cons of this game from my experiences playing it so far. A lot of this is obvious stuff, but at the same time, how often do you think about it?

Here we go!

Pros of Playing

  • You’ll gain a better understanding of what everyone is raving about. Who is this professor and why is there so many memes about him — such as him being a cute hunk. The only way to figure all of this out is to download the game and see for yourself. Then if you were lazy, you could just use google to find out.
  • You can make new friends. I know we’ve all heard people talking about a game or movie which we like, but you don’t have the courage to go and talk with them. While playing Pokemon Go, I have talked with a lot of people that I never thought would even say one word to be before.
  • You’ll officially get to be a Trainer! This is kinda the whole point of the game. If you don’t know what this means, then you should watch the TV show — it’s still airing on Cartoon Network to this day. I can imagine that we still enjoy thinking about the memroies of the games which we played from Pokemon Yellow to Ruby and Saphire.
  • This game has been helping with exercise. I am actually going outside more and more to find pokemon instead of just sitting inside playing League of Legends. It mixes up the usual games which I play daily.

Cons of Playing

  • The app is still buggy. I have issues to get it to connect to the GPS signal and an issue with catching a pokemon then just freezes. These issues will be fixed really soon, but for now, it’s an issue for me when I am out hunting for new Pokemon.
  • I have also noticed that the servers are down about thirty percent of the time. I would not expect this to happen with the two companies that run this game. Yet, I don’t think they were honestly prepared for the phenomenon that they have created.
  • I am freaking sick of finding Weedles, Zubats, and Spearows in my area. That seems like all there is in West Virginia for the pokemon to capture.
  • Paying to win. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that paying for items supports the game and developers to keep this going. I have seen one person in my area own all five of the gyms with a Pokemon combat power (CP) level of 800. I know that they are paying to win this game in the area.

I honest’t don’t know if my article will make a difference when it comes to people thinking about this game and playing it. I enjoy it overall, I really do, but I had to do a pros vs cons to share my ideas about the whole¬†phenomenon.

If you would like to add to this list, share your opinion, or give feedback regarding the post, please leave a comment. I want to see how other people feel about Pokemon Go.
